Conference
Philosophy’s Problem with Religion
The Interplay of Faith and Reason from Scholasticism to Enlightenment
Workshop
4 September 2014
Convener: Cornelia Linde (German Historical Institute London)
Venue: German Historical Institute London
British Academy Early Career Regional Event
The workshop will explore intellectual approaches to the problematic relationship of theology and philosophy from the 13th to the 17th century. The event will bring together scholars from various disciplines such as philosophy, theology and history who are working on chronological periods often rigorously separated in modern research environments. This workshop transcends disciplinary boundaries and textbook divisions of historical periods in order to highlight so far unexplored elements of continuity between the Middle Ages and the Early Modern period.
